New year comes with new trends. But before we start on with the pros and cons of the return of 1980s cocktail dressing (yes, it’s returning back), this lull in the fashion calendar seems a good chance to make some style resolutions.
I. Buy more basics- Buy more Lingerie
Not only the basic statement trousers or reworked shirts, but the cogs and wheels that help the appearance of effortless style – T-shirt bras, grey T-shirts, nude vests, white cotton roll-necks, slips and half-slips. We will put these in our basket before another pair of cropped jeans sneaks in.
II. More shopping
Yes, really, your resolution is for more shopping. But I mean real shopping, in online shops. While buying online is a life-saver in so many ways, as with all things digital it distances us from real life. Trying on size charts to clothes on is key to understanding your shape. The more you try on size charts, the better you dress.
III. Stop being snobby
Fashion writers are very cynical about trends. In 2016 they predicted shoulder less tops right up until about October, when they decided one might have been quite useful and chic after all. Sigh.
