Style Guide
Women are beautiful. What adds to their beauty is the right type of lingerie. They get the required support and comfort for their breasts by wearing lingerie of the correct size and shape. However, just like food preferences, women differ in their opinions about lingerie. Some don’t give much thought to bras and undies, while others spend lots of time picking their innerwear carefully and spend huge amounts of money while shopping for lingerie. A lot of factors like personal interests, age, financial status, the availability of time, and shopping habits play significant roles in women’s opinions regarding lingerie shopping. This takes us to the question of the amount of money they spend on lingerie. We have asked several women the question, “How much do you spend on lingerie?” and got widely varying responses from them. Read along to find out more about this survey we have conducted!
* Note: This survey involved random samples of women from various countries across the globe.
Yes! Numerous women in many countries don’t buy lingerie at all. This may sound shocking to many, but it’s a fact we have gleaned from our survey. Let’s take a peek at what these women have to say!
When some women were posed with the question, “How much do you spend on lingerie?” they said, “Almost nothing.” Others quipped, “I spend 0 bucks on lingerie because they are expensive.” Many stated that they stopped wearing lingerie years ago! It might sound surprising that a few individuals said that a lot of lingerie comes with lace and they are allergic to it! Others feel that there is nothing as comfy as going commando!
Many stated that they already have a huge collection of lingerie from the past years, and they don’t wish to add anything new to their existing wardrobe. Another interesting fact we have found is that lots of women have stocked up on black lingerie sets because they make women look more attractive and sensuous!
We have found that there are two sub-categories in this major group of women! Shall we look at both?
This group spends around $75 to $100 a year on daily wear like everyday bras, but not much on other styles. Some of them purchase lingerie when their favourite brand announces seasonal sales or discounts. These women might shop for expensive lingerie sometimes but do it just once every 3 or 4 years and reserve it for special occasions.
90% of Indian women prioritise support, comfort, and coverage while shopping for lingerie. In the Indian market, the average price of a bra is from ₹299 to ₹399. Therefore, Indian women who spend moderately on bras stick to this amount. They can get good-quality bras for this cost, and using the deals and discounts their brand offers, they can bring the prices further down.
Did you know that thousands of women opt for luxurious lingerie because they are higher up on the financial ladder? Many of them love the touch and feel of expensive bras and panties, so they splurge on their favourite lingerie.
These women treat expensive bras (for special occasions) as everyday bras! They spend somewhere between $1000 and $2000 on lingerie every year. This may sound astounding to women in the other categories we have discussed already, but those who can afford it can as well enjoy it, right?
When we asked certain women, “How much do you spend on lingerie?” they quickly replied that they never used to purchase lingerie 5 years back. However, they do now after looking at their friends/coworkers who spend some amount on lingerie. Of course, as discussed previously, there is another group that stated they used to splurge on lingerie 5 years ago, but now stopped because they already have many. There’s yet another group that spends zero on lingerie the first half of the year, but then splurges on fancy bras and undies in the second half!
Thus, this category of women keeps switching from one group to another, based on their daily needs, preferences and financial status.
Did you know that some women stitch their own lingerie? This is both a creative and a cost-effective approach to designing lingerie they like.
