Style Guide
It’s not a common scenario, as most of the time, if an S-size panty feels too tight, an M will fit comfortably due to the stretchability of the fabric and the elasticity in the waistband and leg openings. Lingerie experts and fitting specialists rarely encounter this issue. However, there are occasional cases where individuals face “in-between” sizing problems with panties. Especially when your underwear is tight.
“We often see size discrepancies with bra cups and bands, but panties typically don’t have this issue because the fabric composition allows it to adapt to the body’s shape. However, in rare instances, this problem can occur. It can often be resolved by remeasuring the panty size with a fitting expert or trying different styles,” explains a Lingerie Fashion Designer.
If your panties don’t fit correctly, the usual solution is to size up or down. However, in rare cases, neither size may feel right. This problem isn’t always confined to the waistband or leg openings—it can also occur in the crotch area, where the fabric may bunch or feel uncomfortable.
Consider experimenting with styles like thongs, G-strings, C-strings, tangas, or period panties, as these might worsen the issue.
If sizing remains an issue after trying different styles, consult a lingerie fitting expert. They can measure your panty size accurately and recommend brands or styles tailored to your unique body shape.
