Can Regular Use of Bra Prevent Sagging of Breasts?

No! It cannot prevent sagging of breasts but wearing the right bra can provide enough support and lift. Sagging of breasts are usually related to genetics, age, and lifestyle and not your bra.

What Causes Your Breasts to Sag?

Your breasts will sag naturally over time. How much will it sag is mostly out of your control. Medically, sagging of breasts are known as breast ptosis. The Cooper’s ligament that’s responsible to lift the breast tissues and fat starts to lose its elasticity causing your breasts to droop and deflate. Other reasons for sagging breasts include:

  • Wrong Posture
  • Genetics
  • Rapid Weight Loss
  • Lack of Exercise
  • Smoking
  • Breastfeeding
  • Accident

Sagging is very common when women hit their 30s. There’s nothing much that can be done about sagging however, using the right type of bra can support and control the sagging of breasts and lift the breast tissues. However, it is not a permanent solution. But… don’t skip your bra!

What are the Best Bras for Sagging Breasts?

Encircled Bras – these bras provide full coverage and support for sagging breast tissues.

Underwired Bras – women with sagging breasts enjoy optimum support an underwired bra provides. It won’t prevent sagging breasts but can control the appearance of the breasts.

M Frame Bras – these bras provide a gentle lift to control the sagging appearance without hurting the breast tissues.

What Bra Should You Avoid if You have Sagging Breasts?

It’s more of a personal choice but if you’d like us to recommend it, here is our suggestion;

Bralettes – because they don’t often come with underwires and padded cups. Most bralettes are made with lace or delicate fabric that stretches and does not help support or lift sagging breasts.

Push-up Bras – women with sagging breasts have bigger and fuller breasts, so push-up bras aren’t always the right choice.

Cami Bras – they don’t support sagging breasts as the bra struggles to hold heavier and fuller breasts.

Save Breasts from Hurting More…

The ligaments in breasts stretch with increasing age or other factors resulting in sagging of tissues. This eventually means that most of the breast tissue is unsupported and any aggressive movement can lead to sagging and paining. You cannot prevent sagging breasts but giving them proper support can potentially save breasts from hurting more.
